The Benjamin William Mkapa Foundation (BMF), in partnership with the National Bank of Commerce (NBC), continues to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to strengthening Tanzania’s health workforce by successfully conducting a high-level joint supervision across seven Health Training Institutions (HTIs) and participating in the official graduation of the second batch of NBC–Mkapa Fellows.
The supervision focused on reviewing academic progress, engaging with students and tutors, and strengthening institutional partnerships. All students under review had signed scholarship contracts, completed mid-semester examinations, and several are to finalize their training, positioning them to return and serve in their respective communities.
The field visits reaffirmed the impact of the NBC– Mkapa Fellows Scholarship Program, which currently supports 100 in-service nurses in two phases. The program is anchored on building critical midwifery skills among frontline healthcare workers to combat maternal and child health challenges in underserved regions.
From 16th to 24th July 2025, BMF teams visited the following institutions across Mwanza, Shinyanga, and Geita Regions:

As a key milestone of the mission, BMF also participated in the graduation ceremony for the second batch of scholarship recipients, a proud moment marking the transition of newly skilled nurse-midwives into Tanzania’s health delivery system.
